Valbuena 5º 2018 — A rainy, cool year with a late harvest. Atlantic-style, fruity wines with marked acidity, very classic.
A cool, rainy cycle: the most Atlantic and taut Valbuena of the range. Bright, luminous garnet. A nose of crunchy red fruit, pomegranate, flowers and a minty balsamic note, with the oak barely hinted at. On the palate it stands out for its freshness and nerve: medium body, fine tannins and a vibrant, easy-drinking finish. A year of filigree over power, ideal for a versatile table. Delicious young.
Five years from harvest: 18 months in new barrels, 18 months in used barrels and 24 months in bottle before release.
Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) 91%, Merlot 7%, Malbec 2%
Roast red meats, small game, milk-fed lamb, aged sheep's cheeses and traditional Spanish stews.
16–18 °C. Decant at least one hour before serving.
