Tokaji Eszencia 2013 — A year with a humid autumn that allowed exceptional development of Botrytis. An Eszencia with an intense citrus profile, infinite density and lively acidity that balances its extreme concentration.
The absolute jewel of Oremus and one of the rarest nectars in the world: only the must that the Aszú grapes release under their own weight. Deep amber, dense and almost viscous. A supernatural nose of date, fig, raisins, dark honey, caramel, saffron and exotic spices, of unreal concentration. On the palate the sweetness is monumental —hundreds of grams of sugar— supported by very vibrant acidity; almost no alcohol, a texture of noble syrup and a persistence measured in minutes. The great 2013 vintage produces an Eszencia to pass down through generations; drink it by the spoonful, almost like an elixir.
It is obtained solely by gravity from the weight of the grapes themselves, without pressing. Its sugar concentration is such that fermentation is minimal, and it can last for years in barrel.
Free-run must from aszú (botrytised) grapes, without pressing.
Very concentrated desserts, traditional foie gras, or simply served in a small glass as a jewel at the end of a great dinner.
8–10 °C. Served in small glasses, practically by the spoonful.
